Rick is a highly experienced researcher in the areas of Property Market Intelligence, Economic Intelligence, Statistical Surveys, Market Research, Strategy Planning, Socio-Economic Impact Assessment and Project Feasibility.

He is an acknowledged expert on the nature and workings of regional economies, and is a specialist in regional socio-economic studies.

Numerous reports and studies have been undertaken for all levels of the government, corporate and community sectors throughout northern Queensland.


Employment History
  • 1975 Commenced as a survey statistician at the Australian Bureau of Statistics, Canberra.
  • 1981 Appointed as a research economist at the Industries Assistance Commission, Canberra
  • 1987 Appointed Senior Economist, Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) with responsibility for managing economic intelligence, strategy research and policy advocacy.
  • 1992 Instituted the Cairns Economic Research Unit, a commercial research and consulting organisation within James Cook University. Appointed Manager of the Unit.
  • 1995 Established Epsilon Research, a Cairns based research and consultancy agency in the field of economic and social research.
  • 1998 Following the amalgamation of Epsilon Research and HTW Valuers (Cairns), appointed Research Director, HTW Cairns.
